You will be given a certificate to apply for your learner licence and pass the theory test, before moving to the next stage.

Improve your skill levels by targeting high-risk riding behaviours. Get road confident with tips on how to ride smarter and safer. Allows for a comprehensive assessment of your riding skills in both urban and higher speed zones.

Together with a pre and post assessment briefing, you will need to allow 60 minutes.

This stage has no minimum time restriction but you must be at least 16.5 years of age.

The Competency Based Training Assessment is a 30 minute on-road assessment. Our assessor will follow you, communicating with you using radio communication. You will be assessed on your position, observations, cornering, open road speed, road rules, signals, blind spots and control of your motorcycle.

Together with a pre and post assessment briefing, you will need to allow 60 minutes.

If you have completed an competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) 6F course , you can get your full licence once you turn 17½.

You must have held your restricted licence for at least 9 months.

Entry-level licence into becoming a driver of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) or Medium Rigid Vehicles.

The trainee will be able to demonstrate the appropriate responsibilities of a Class 2 vehicle, with an emphasis on accident prevention and driver responsibility.

The driver will also:

1. Identify driving hazards associated with a rigid vehicle and describe measures to reduce the risks associated with the identified hazards.

2. Describe requirements relating to safe loading of a rigid vehicle and driving techniques that minimise the adverse effects of a high centre of gravity/

3. Carry out a pre-check walk-around inspection of a rigid vehicle.

4. Drive a rigid vehicle efficiently in different traffic and road conditions.

5. Manoeuvre a rigid vehicle in reverse; park, shut down, and secure a rigid vehicle.

6. Complete driver logbook entries.

You will need a medical and a Class 2 Learners on your licence.

Paramedic, delivery driver, removalist or horsebox owner.

Training and Assessment
US 17576 Heavy Rigid Vehicles.

You will be able to demonstrate the appropriate responsibilities of a Class 4 vehicle. There is an emphasis on accident prevention and driver responsibility.

The driver will also:

1. Identify driving hazards associated with a rigid vehicle and describe measures to reduce the risks associated with the identified hazards.

2. Describe requirements relating to safe loading of a rigid vehicle and driving techniques that minimise the adverse effects of a high centre of gravity.

3. Carry out a pre-check walk-around inspection of a rigid vehicle.

4. Drive a rigid vehicle efficiently in different traffic and road conditions.

5. Manoeuvre a rigid vehicle in reverse; park, shut down, and secure a rigid vehicle.

6. Complete driver logbook entries.

You are required to hold US 24089 Fatigue Management, work time, and has driver logbook requirements.

You must have held a Class 2 full licence for a period of six months prior or for at least three months, if aged 25 or over.

Must hold learner licence for each class.

Called an ‘articulated vehicle’ or referred to as an ‘artic,’ ‘HGV,’ ‘wagon and drag’ or ‘kingpin’, the bigger pulling power of this giant of the road makes it popular for distribution.

The aim of this course is to produce a Class 5 vehicle operator that will have the knowledge, skills and attributes for all essential areas of the units of competency covered in the Class 5 vehicle course. Emphasis on accident prevention and driver responsibility.

1. Describe night driving hazards.

2. Describe requirements relating to safe loading of a combination vehicle and driving techniques that minimise the adverse effects of a high centre of gravity.

3. Connect a trailer to the prime mover.

4. Carry out a pre-use walk-around inspection of a combination vehicle.

5. Drive a combination vehicle efficiently in different traffic and road conditions.

6. Manoeuvre a combination vehicle in reverse.

7. Park, shut down, and secure separately the trailer and prime mover of a combination vehicle.

8. Complete driver logbook entries.

You must have held a Class 4 full licence for a period of six months prior or for a least three months, if aged 25 or over.

You must hold a learner licence by passing a 35 question theory test at a local AA.
